Our Campervan Converters Process

We are passionate (and slightly obsessive) about our vans. It all starts with a collaborative and thorough design process, before beginning a professional and meticulous build.

our process

We have a style - the ‘Mint look’ - and we have our tried and tested layouts. These however are just the starting points from which to add (or take away) other features. We have designed our vans to be modular and versatile, allowing our customers to put their own identity into every element of their MINT campervan.

Our years of experience in domestic heating and renewable energy power systems allow us to design vans that can run off-grid for as long as you need.

We hand build, fit and finish every cabinet, panel and door that goes into our vans. We don't buy-in pre fabricated sections from factory outlets. This process takes a bit more time but the results are worth the effort.

Included in the price is a one year warranty that gives you peace of mind if any component were to fail outside of normal wear and tear.

Ensuring MINT quality

We understand why certain materials are often used in van conversions. chipboard, thin MDF and pine panelling are low weight and low cost but can create a camper that looks like a budget hotel, an Ikea kitchen or a sauna.

We've spent our time in vans like this over the years. We've seen first hand how these materials stand up to the test of time, toddlers, dogs and also the change around from daytime to bedtime.

Materials

We use birch plywood throughout in our vans; for the panelling, the cabinetry and the bed bunks.

We use it because it is very strong, very sustainable, light in colour and soft grained. It fits well with the Mint style - clean lines, light spaces and colourful elements.

We prefer birch plywood over other plywoods, pine cladding and common campervan materials because it offers the most sustainable option without compromise on the quality and durability of the finish.

Finishes

All cabinetry, walls and ceiling panels in our vans are clear lacquered at our in-house spray room.

This is to ensure that not only do we keep the lightness of the birch ply but importantly that all areas are fully resistant against water (rain and wet clothes) and moisture (created by cooking, breathing, etc) and mud and dirt are easily wiped off.

Any cabinet doors and coloured panels that you see in our vans are faced with a coloured laminate to ensure maximum durability.

Safety

Safety always has to be a priority. That is why we ensure that every section, part, or appliance that we fit into our vans is built or sourced, and fitted, to the highest standards.

The belted seats we use are M1 crash tested, made by a UK based company, and meet all necessary government set guidelines. We also always provide, as standard, a new CO and smoke alarm.

In addition, each van comes with a gas certificate, electrical sign off and Guaranteed Appropriate Payload to give you peace of mind that EVERY part has been checked and checked again by qualified professionals.
